Face swapping in video has traditionally required professional visual effects skills, expensive software, and hours of manual tracking per shot. Faceswap automates the process using deep learning — it detects and extracts faces from source and target videos, trains a custom autoencoder model on the paired data, and converts frames by reconstructing the source face mapped to the target's pose and expression. The result is a complete pipeline from raw video to swapped output that runs on consumer GPUs, making face swapping accessible to hobbyists, content creators, and researchers.
