CORTEX

Horizontally scalable long-term storage for Prometheus

Apache-2.0

ABOUT

Prometheus lacks native long-term storage and horizontal scaling, making it difficult to retain months of metrics for AI platform observability across multiple teams and environments. Cortex extends Prometheus with a horizontally scalable, multi-tenant architecture that separates the ingestion, storage, and query layers — enabling durable metric retention, cross-cluster querying, and cost-efficient storage for large-scale AI infrastructure monitoring.

INTEGRATION GUIDE

1. Aggregate metrics from multiple Kubernetes clusters running model serving infrastructure into a unified query plane 2. Retain months of GPU utilization, request latency, and error rate data for capacity planning and trend analysis 3. Provide isolated metric namespaces per team so multiple AI development groups share a single monitoring backend 4. Replace single-node Prometheus with a scalable, highly available metrics system for production AI deployments
